Behind The Curtain – Spiritual Abuse in the Black Church

Part 4

The Black Church makes most of their money by promoting three major fears:

Fear of going to hell

Fear of death

Fear of having no money

The Fear of God not loving you is promoted as you doing something wrong. Whatever you did wrong will result in God leaving you to die broke and go to hell. Selling the notion of fear of failure in God’s eyes generates revenue and they have no problem raking in the profits.

If someone is still sitting in the pew unconvinced then the fear must be stepped up to fear of public humiliation in front of the globe which is to take place on judgement day after Gabrielle blows the horn, trumpet or whatever wind instrument he has while Jesus returns. The idea that you will be ousted in front of millions of people should be enough to make you tithe.

Some Black churches that present themselves as cults do the following

The more members you have the more tithes you should receive theoretically. Black churches measure success on 2 things:

1. How big the physical building is
2. How many members are in the church

Like a business they must have a retention crew. They want people to come back and tithe money so something must be offered other than the love of Jesus.

The cult church starts off as a dream church to the victim.

1. They offer the love of Jesus and the grace of God
2. They have an appealing church that’s easy on the eyes
3. The pastor himself will tell you he’s hands on and doesn’t send minions to speak for him. Always accessible. Call or come by anytime.
4. There’s always an assistant pastor that reinforces the pastors intentions as a way of keeping you engaged until they can find a way to hook you in
5. The pastor spotlights you for weeks in front of the church so you really feel special
6. (emotional manipulation begins) They offer to pay all your bills up front and say you don’t have to join.

After you join they say they will take you through classes to get back on your feet if you do what they say.

After you start doing what they say its starts getting weird.

If you address the weirdness they convince you that God delivered them to you as a way of saving you from the awful situation you were in before.

Once you get settled into the brainwashing then they start pouring Bible verses on to you.

To keep you hooked they offer you free food once during the week and once on the weekend.

You will be required to tithe a certain amount to offset what they paid for you.

Here’s the catch!

If at any time you say you want to leave the cult they make you pay everything back that they paid for you and the niceness turns to nastiness.

If you get out alive you will be one of the lucky ones.

In return for their ‘hospitality’ to you, your soul, and your family, you must agree to the following activities.

1. Recruit new members just like a pyramid scheme
2. You must come to church so many Sundays in a row to fulfill the obligation
3. You must tithe so much money a week to offset the initial ‘hospitality’. The more you give the more you love Jesus
4. You must identify and call out ‘non-believers’ or ‘fakers’ in the church even if its their first time visiting. If they are not a good fit in the church the pastor must know so he can redirect them to another church
5. You are required to go on retreats with the church. This way the pastor can isolate you and concrete his ideas in your head with reinforcements who are the other church members
6. You are conditioned and required to tell the pastor if any of the other church members are going against the grain.

Part 3 Fear

The message is that God will be angry with you for some reason. You don’t know the reason and will never know the reason. All you know is that God will be angry with you.

I had an ex boyfriend like this once. He was a sociopath. He kept telling me I was doing things wrong but wouldn’t tell me what. I was just supposed to figure it out and not do it again.

This is the same concept. This is a battle you can’t possibly win and the Preacher preaches it so that you think you can just by pleasing God and figuring out what you did wrong.

But you don’t know what to please him with.

This is a mind game meant to produce fear in somebody. God does not promote this. The pastor does. After fear is established by the Pastor then the mind control game begins!

Fear of Hell

Hel was a Norse Goddess who was in charge of taking souls to the underworld. Sheol is the Hebrew underworld where your soul goes through a spiritual purification to prepare you to meet God as a pure soul. Neither one includes any punishment.

Sheol is never spoken about in any black church because nobody knows what it is including the pastor. The congregation certainly doesn’t know and has never heard of it.

But if you want to control the masses you combine these two religions, then add in punishment. Then put a picture of a half goat half man with horns. Then draw another picture of him holding a pitchfork. Then show it to people who already don’t know what they did wrong to upset God, and tell them that this is what’s coming for you if you don’t get right. Then you have people in your control instantly.

The above is the basis for spiritual abuse.

Hell is mentioned 15 times in the Bible. All in the new testament. The concept of hell is not found anywhere in the old testament.

Hmmmmm. Didn’t King James revise the Bible in the 1600’s? Wasn’t the concept of hell distributed in the 1500’s? And now it’s in the King James version with the 1600’s philosophy of hell?

Hell is only mentioned in these 15 verses in the Bible.

Matthew 5:22
But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.

Matthew 5:29
If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

Matthew 5:30
And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

Matthew 10:28
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Matthew 18:9
And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.

Matthew 23:15
“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell as you are.

Matthew 23:33
“You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?

Mark 9:43
If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out.

Mark 9:45
And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell.

Mark 9:47
And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell,

Luke 12:5
But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.

Acts 6:1
In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews (A Jewish person that combined Judaism with Greek Culture) among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food.

Acts 9:29
He talked and debated with the Hellenistic Jews Jews (A Jewish person that combined Judaism with Greek Culture) , but they tried to kill him.

James 3:6
The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

2 Peter 2:4
For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment;

Under this philosophy everybody who did anything evil before the new testament was written didn’t have a hell to go to? Where did the go? With the start of the new testament now people can go to hell without a problem. Like Motel 6- there’s enough space!

Signs of spiritual abuse through fear:

1. Spiritual abuse is telling your members that you can only think what God thinks and only answer in Bible verses

Example:

Person A. Hey can you pass me the salt?

Person B. The children of Isreal had no salt! They only had the wilderness! If they had no luxuries why are you entitled to them!

Person A. Just hand me the salt and stop trippin!!

2. Shaming and Blaming: shaming someone over body parts or things that happen to humans just because you are human and using the Bible to justify the judgmental critism is another form of spiritual abuse.

Example:

Person A. I have a headache

Person B. That’s because you don’t love Jesus! You didn’t pray enough! You let Satan in that’s your punishment! If you do what the Lord say you won’t have issues like that!

3. Spiritual Manipulation is Stating that the Lord or God spoke to you:

Person A. The Lord just spoke to me and said that you were not blessed because of your lack of faith.

Person B. Shut up fool!

Person A. That’s why you weren’t blessed because of your attitude

Person B. (Gets up and leaves)

4. Calling somebody a fool- Matthew 5:22But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.

This verse is taken waaay too seriously in the Bible Belt. If you are heard calling someone a “fool” in the southern united states black people will literally run away from you for fear of being struck by lightning.

5. Judgmental Christians

Message to those who memorize Bible verses or copy and paste Bible verses on facebook thinking it makes them more of a Christian.

Anybody can copy and paste Bible verses. All you need is Biblegateway.com and if you know how to copy and paste then you can do it.

Atheist, Buddist, Muslims, Confusionist, and anybody from any background can copy and paste a Bible verse. This does not make you more of a Christian. It just makes you computer literate.

I can’t answer a question without quoting a Bible verse

Just because you memorized the Bible does not make you a Christian. Anybody can memorize Bible verses and quote them back.

This is the most blatant form of hiding behind a Bible instead of facing reality and giving real facts. People who hide behind the bible like this cannot give a personal solid opinion and sit on the front pew of the church waiting to press their ideas and values on to you and you’re just supposed to take it because they are closer to God. Why are they closer to God?

Because they took time to memorize a Bible.

6. The most common spiritual abuse is promoting the fear of falling out of favor with the pastor as a means to instill more fear into church members. This circle of stupidity works because too many black people worship the pastor instead of who their supposed to be worshipping with is Jesus Christ.

This brainwashing technique is one of many that Jim Jones and David Kuresh used to gain followers and then lead them to their deaths.

Fear of Death

“God woke me up this morning! Somebody didn’t get up!”

This is the most used manipulative phrase in the black Church.

It is meant to empower yourself and reassure yourself that you are loved and worthy in God’s eyes to be blessed with another day to please him.

This fear based, misconstrued, convoluted, and flat out stupid if you dissect the whole sentence, meaning and concept.

1. God woke me up this morning:
Atheist, Buddhist, Muslims, Taoists, Krishna Worshipers, and 6 billion other people woke up too. So did livestock, fish, and household pets. This statement is selfish as if God only woke you up and nobody else and you were the only one on God’s mind and nobody except for you was worthy of waking up.

It holds a second stupid meaning:
If the whole point of church is to prepare to go to heaven and be with God then if he didn’t wake you up you should be happy. You’re with him. Right? If that is the final goal and you’ve reached it then what is all the fear about.

Under this statement the dead people win. You woke up so you lose. You’re not with God! The dead people are!

2. Somebody didn’t get up!
Well I had relatives die back in the 1970’s and 1980’s. They didn’t get up. I had relatives die in 2001, 2008, 2013 and 2017. They didn’t get up either. I guess God just hates them.

They’ve been punished justly under this statement.

This is also selfish. This implies that you and only you were worthy of getting up while others just lost out.

I guess that little girl who was battling cancer in the hospital who died this morning just wasn’t worthy. But YOU were!!

I guess that couple who died in the car crash last night just wasn’t worthy. But YOU were!!!

I guess the baby that was still born to that family just wasn’t worth it. But YOU were!!!

I guess that sweet little old lady on oxygen who went into cardiac arrest this morning just wasn’t worth it. But YOU were!!!

I guess you should feel good that others misfortune of death wasn’t bestowed on you. Kudos!!! You’re worthy. Too bad for those who were battling some sort of illness or lost their lives in a situation that was not in their control.

You won and they didn’t.

This kind of fear based statement and the fear of death is what drives the tithes for the old people in the church. It’s subliminally mentioned that if you tithe enough you won’t die. And if you wake up then you did right yesterday and you have another chance today. If you do right today then God will reward you with a tomorrow.

This makes sense to who!!!!

Logic Manipulation

Logically Speaking:

If anybody in a black church asks logical questions he or she is quickly put in check if not punished and in some cases asked to leave the church completely.

Why?

Because he or she is trying to contaminate the congregation against God’s word.

“You are not to question the Bible you are to take it as it is! Questioning the Bible means you are questioning God! If you question God you go to hell!”

Even if the question makes sense you’re not supposed to ask you are supposed to dismiss the logical question out of the fear that you will go to hell for being logical.

This makes sense to who???!!!

It is ridiculous how some people act in the church over a question. Why is it so hard just to answer it!

Question:
If Cain, Abel and Eve were the only ones left on earth after Abel was killed then where did Cain find his wife and how did Nod become a whole city? Cain had a father in law. Who was he? If he married his sister as suggested then where did she get a whole city full of people?

Question:
If the commandment says thalt shall not commit adultery and proverbs says thalt shall not take unto you a harlot then why did the Lord command Hosea to take a harlot as a wife? The Lord has just commanded Hosea to send himself to hell.

Question:

Soddom and Gamorrah was either hit by a meteor shower or a volcano eruption. Either way Lot escaped with his daughters to a cave and things went sideways. Archeologist have proven that the visible city of Zoar was 100 feet away unaffected by the events. There were people, food, housing, and warmth in the city and they did take in refugees from Soddom and Gamorrah.

Why did Lot and his daughters not go there? Did they have an alternative intentions?

Question:
Why does Matthew 1:23 call Jesus Immanuel?“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). And the rest of the verses call him Jesus? Why does he have two names?

Question
Leviticus 21:20. Why does God hate the handicapped?

16 Then the Lord said to Moses, 17 “Say to Aaron, ‘None of your children or their children who has something wrong with his body should go near to give the bread as a gift to his God. 18 For no one whose body is not perfect should come near, no blind man, or man who cannot walk, or one with a marked face, or a bad arm or leg, 19 or a man who has a broken foot or hand, 20 or a man with a crooked upper back from birth, or a very little man, or one who has a bad eye or skin trouble or sores, or one whose sex parts have been crushed. 21 No man among the children of Aaron the religious leader, who has something wrong with his body, should come near to give the Lord’s gifts by fire. He should not come near to give the bread of his God, because he has something wrong with him. 22 He may eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy and of the holy. 23 But he should not come near the curtain or the altar, because he has something wrong with him, and so he may not sin against My holy places. For I am the Lord Who makes them holy.’”

Question: If he is the Lord who makes them holy then why not heal them instead of telling them they can’t come near him?

I just asked a bunch of logical questions and I’ve not been struck by lightning.

Bible Verse Manipulation

Twisting Bible verses happens in all churches. However, the black church takes it to a limit that God couldn’t even imagine!

Lets start first with normal manipulative phrases not in the Bible

1. Either you believe or you don’t!
This phrase is meant to put you in some kind of control because you are out of control with logical statements and questions and you’re not showing enough fear and religious oppression. You keep showing independence and making sense. You keep questioning their beliefs and going against everything they’ve been taught therefore they have to defend their belief by attacking you because they’ve run out of options.

2. You just don’t want to do what the Lord says!
This is another phrase meant to put you in check. You have challenged their ideas with actual Bible scriptures which they have twisted or Bible verses that don’t exist, yet, they believe it’s in the Bible.

None of these phrases are in the Bible no matter how hard you try to twist them
Cleanliness is next to Godliness is not in the Bible

God don’t like ugly is not in the Bible

Blessed and Highly favored is not in the Bible

Worrying is a sin is not in the Bible stated in that word sequence. That statement has been taken out of context by Bible Twisters

3. I’ve been called by the Lord/I’m a servant of the Lord

No you are not. The Lord didn’t appoint any servants and least of all you. This is a manipulative phrase used to try and control others by using Jesus name or gaining some sort of a false status. Anyone saying this is mentally skewed, off the mark, twisted and anyone who gets hooked in their trap will be very very sorry.

Twisting Bible Verses is done at every service

Luke 4 Man cannot live by bread alone
3 The devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, tell this stone to be made into bread.” 4 Jesus said to him, “It is written, ‘Man is not to live by bread alone.’”

The following interpretations have been made from the pulpit

1. Man has to have more than one woman because the bread represent a woman
2. Man has to have wine or other addictions because bread is dry
3. This does not apply to women only men and men must have more material things than women

Proverbs 13:24He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

This does not mean to beat your child. This means to steer the child in the right direction and give him/her moral values to live by. This has been twisted around to inflict violence on the innocents. The black church takes this verse to levels.

There is a line between a church goer, a bible study student, and a fanatic who lives in an alternate reality created by themselves.

These black churches promote a fantasy world that is hard to and does not exist. Promoting fear, twisting Bible verses, and traditional gimmicks to increase tithes is wrong.

The black church has figured out how to retain people by manipulating fears and emotions with promises that can never be backed up or proven.

A lot of black people are leaving the church because of these false doctrines that are being taught. The ones who have stayed in the church cannot be reasoned with or spoken to in any normal manner to get them to understand that they are not being saved. They are being used!

What do you think?
